FrankenFood was on SpikeTV now on Paramount Netowkr show which will have two amateur cooks face off. They will each prepare their signature dish, and the winner will have it featured in a restaurant.The show will have two celebrity judges, Josh Capon and Tony Luke Jr. FrankenFood cast its first season in November/December of 2014. There were eight casting calls throughout the country. This show is not currently casting, and we will update this page when/if they cast for a second season.
FrankenFood by the numbers
Sadly, this show only got one season which aired on Sunday evenings. I watched the pilot, and I was hooked. It became my favorite new reality show of the 2014 season, and I have been checking for a reboot or revival. With Pinterest and TikTok, this seems like the perfect show in the current environment.
The top prize for the show was $10k, and a slot on a menu for the winner’s dish. There is also a bit of fame associated with it. I won a competition at a local restaraunt where I got to create and name a custom sandwich for a month. If it was popular, it stayed and if not, then it was just a temporary thing.
I spent a huge amount of time designing my sandwich, and I was so proud when it finally got on the menu. It was a variation on their BBQ sandwich, but unfortunately, it wasn’t popular enough to stay. Regardless, I still remember the pride of getting to stop by and order something that I had created.
I really like how this show brought creativity to the food space. It wasn’t important for the people to be the best chefs or cooks. There were no challenges, twists or secret ingredients. Just honest to goodness people sharing their beloved food creations with the world.
