This reality show has a unique concept that focuses on business owners finding and usually removing problem employees. Because Mystery Diners is on the Food Network, they have limited the businesses to restaurants so far. I can see the concept expanding to cover other types of service business whether that be caterer, florist, or dry cleaner. It never hurts to reach out to the show producers.

While the type of business is a bit flexible, there are some rather specific guidelines that the restaurant must not be part of a chain/franchise. The show has two major perks in that it helps the owners identify problem employees, but also allows them to recognize all star employees. It also allows them a generous amount of time at the start and end of the show to plug their business. This works as a two to three minute infomercial on the restaurant, and most businesses see a jump in traffic from appearing on air.
