Hell’s Kitchen is the most popular season long elimination cooking show. The show appears on the Fox Network in the summers with casting each spring. Thee show is famous for having Gordon Ramsay yell at the contestants, and the tension creates a lot of drama among the casts. The show requires the contestants to perform a variety of cooking related challenges, and each one show ends with a dinner session and someone going home.

This show is not for the timid. The filming and cooking require significant stamina, and there is constant tension as everyone lives in the same house meaning there is no down time. The one major perk of being on this show is that it can really boost the career of aspiring chefs.

Applicant Restrictions:
  • Must between 21 and 65 Years Old
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must not be a Felon
  • Must Submit a Recent Head Shot
  • Must be Experienced in Kitchen

The Taste – Casting Guide

The Taste is a cooking reality show which appears on ABC. The show pits professional and amateur chefs against each other with the goal of outlasting the competition to win $10,000. The show features judges, Anthony Bourdain, Ludo Lefebvre, Nigella Lawson, and Marcus Samuelson who evaluate the food.

Applicant Restrictions:
  • Must be 18+ Years Old
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to cook
  • Must not be a felon

There are two methods of applying for The Taste. The first is to attend one of the casting calls for the show. The show has five open casting calls for their upcoming season, and if you attend one you should bring both a photo of yourself as well as a signature dish that can be presented as part of the application process.

Open Casting Calls:
  • LOS ANGELES – Saturday, June 21st
  • AUSTIN – Saturday, June 28th
  • SEATTLE – Saturday June 28th
  • CHICAGO – Saturday, July 12th
  • BOSTON – Saturday, July 12th

The second option is to apply with a video submission. To do this, you need to complete the pre-application, the regular application, and upload a video that is 10 minutes or less. They will each prepare their signature dish, and the winner will have it featured in a restaurant.The show will have two celebrity judges, Josh Capon and Tony Luke Jr. FrankenFood cast its first season in November/December of 2014. There were eight casting calls throughout the country. This show is not currently casting, and we will update this page when/if they cast for a second season.

Guy Fieri is a famous chef and host of multiple shows on the Food Network. This is a single episode reality show contest in which the contestants dash around the store looking for ingredients. The show is set in a grocery store and requires the contest to dash through the aisles searching for products making this one of the more athletically demanding cooking contest shows. Unlike most shows on the Food Network, the top prize for this show is $20,000. The winner of the show has the opportunity to have a super shopping spree in which they have to find 10 items, and receive $2,000 for each of the items found.
